15. Cancer thoughts !

My mother-in-law( mil) has cancer. Getting treated and we see so much progress. The thing is, I feel sorry for her but she always talk about it over the phone and during video calls and even in the group chat.

I don’t know, I’m feeling so uncomfortable recently because I’m thinking only of cancer. And I don’t wanna be thinking about cancer when I’m trying to conceive a baby.

I know she has no one else to share all this. But why always talk about it?! It’s making me feel weird things and get weird thoughts.

Am I being insensitive? Mean? Or selfish?

You are not insensitive, ofcourse it makes us sad/scared to think about things like cancer. And your mil may be talking about it often is because she may be craving for some attention and love, she is not wrong either. Few things are scary, But life is what it is. But With love and care, we can make someone feel good for as long they are here.

Maybe her talking about it helps her deal with the fact that she has cancer, cancer is already scary enough a lot of people die from it so having someone to talk to I am sure helps her out I know you might not always want to hear about it but being there for her will really help her out, A lot of my family members have had cancer and some of my family members still have it and I noticed they mostly really needed someone to talk to about it because talking about it and knowing they had someone there so they didn't feel so alone really helped.
