Dear Diary,

There's a new comet visible to the naked eye - C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE). I wish I could see it, but the weather has been cloudy and sometimes rainy here. It's visible after sunset now, for maybe a couple of hours. It shines over the Northwest horizon, below the Big Dipper.

Earlier this month, it was visible at dawn, and I could not make myself get up that early. They say it will likely be visible for the next few weeks, reaching its closest distance to the Earth on the 23rd, though it could start fading in early August. It feels strange how despite the current scenario and all the uncertainty I feel fascinated by the prospect of actually seeing a rare comet.
