I ordered some gourmet food online a couple of weeks ago as a treat (also supporting local business). I'd ordered from them before and I knew they were busy so I expected my order to take ten days at least to arrive.

Last week I got a card in my mailbox that a package was awaiting collection at the post office. It wasn't my normal post office and I wasn't well (not covid-19 though) so I wasn't able to go to collect it until yesterday.

I wasn't expecting it to be my gourmet order because they always courier, not send by post, because of the perishable nature of the food.

Turns out it WAS my gourmet order.

It says on the package that it contains food and requires refrigeration.

My special instructions for delivery are clearly printed on there too - to leave on the porch.

But nooooo. Postal service are f*kn morons. Not only didn't they follow instructions they took it to the furthest post office from my house and didn't leave a card until 9 days after it was supposed to be delivered. My phone number was on the address label - they should have called me the next day!!

So my $70 order of food is off, ruined, inedible. It's not the fault of the business I ordered from, they were trying to do the right thing. Maybe their couriers were overbooked or had to shut down. Who knows. But the postal service f*kd up three different ways but they're saying I'm not eligible for compensation because I didn't advise them of the problem "immediately" - by which they mean on the day when it was supposed to be delivered.

Well I didn't know did I because they didn't leave a card at the time (which was their first f*kup).

I couldn't even complain when I collected the parcel (they don't accept that as official), I had to go online & open a customer account & then lodge a complaint, which wasn't even a straightforward process.

Really pissed off.

Unfortunately it's not their policy to be reasonable.

I'm pissed off for you. That's incredibly awful on their part. Considering it was $70, they should at least compensate you for half!
