Strange/Christine/Clea

Strange/Christine

Dear Diary, I associate myself with Dr Strange sometimes… So I rewatched the movie with Doctor Strange, and his love for Christine is… sounds like sweet talk or empty flattery. It is so sad to watch how in every universe they can’t be together: due to foolishness, tragedy, and other different reasons. And in each universe, he realizes how much he loves her and how hard it is for him. He’s self-centered, with a difficult personality, and closed off. It’s so foolish how they lose each other every time.

And most of the time, it’s him to blame. No matter how much I like this character, on these relationship, he’s definitely an idiot. Every time letting go of such a woman instead of being happy together. And letting her go, thinking she’ll be happier without him. How can anyone be happy in a marriage without Cumberbatch 😆

Alright, enough joking around) but in reality, this trait makes the character less vibrant. In that regard, I actually like Iron Man more. I sympathize with Christine, so I imagined what she must be feeling every time:

You’re not here. But your voice, like an echo,

breaks through the worlds once more.

“I would have chosen you,

in all of them.

I would have chosen love.”

You’re not mine. And never will be.

But in the silence between dreams

I hear:

“You are my constant.

My pain.

My love.”

You didn’t save me. Didn’t stay.

But every glance of yours - a vow:

“I’ll find you

in another life.

In any universe

where you are.”

Strange/Clea

But if you take away all the emotional mess tied to Strange’s human flaws, I’m absolutely obsessed with his relationship with Clea. That’s where Strange is truly in his element and he doesn’t come off as pathetic like he does with Christine, where he’s just not much of a man at all.

The essence of Clea and Strange’s relationship:

  • Intellectual and magical equality
Clea isn’t just a companion - she’s his equal in power, and sometimes even stronger. That gives their bond depth and mutual respect.
  • Attachment without idealization
Their love isn’t romanticized into naive fantasy - it’s a partnership between two seasoned souls who understand the cost of sacrifice.
  • A shared path
Together, they’re defenders of the balance between realms. Their relationship isn’t just personal - it’s part of something bigger.

That’s passion, relationship, sacrifice, equality… That’s my idea of the perfect bond😌

How important it is to choose the right partner.

with the first one, he’s a failure who couldn’t maintain the relationship and could only make promises;

but with the second, he’s the true Sorcerer Supreme, he’s a full-fledged person, unlocking his potential. I’d describe them that way:

«He didn’t save her.

Didn’t explain how the worlds are made.

With her he didn’t have to.

She didn’t ask him to be strong.

Didn’t wait for him to be right.

She simply stood beside him

as everything he believed himself to be

came undone.

He was used to being alone.

Used to love as something you lose.

To closeness as a pain postponed.

With Clea - it was different.

She knew who he was.

Not a myth, not a title, not a cloak.

A man with stubborn hands

and a heart that spoke too softly.

He never promised her forever.

She never asked.

But in her silence

he heard:

“You can be yourself.”

And that

for once

was enough.»

He simply is there for her. And she knows it. She’s calm, confident in him, just as he is in her.

They can be each other’s support, each other’s strength.

and growth.
