"It takes years to build, but just moments to burn it down to ground"
This sounded like a philosophical dialogue till I witnessed my dreams shatter. It was Dusshera, and we were supposed to visit a temple as part of my sister's mannat, but everyone was tired, I was too, but I didn't want to postpone it knowing the next day her parent's are arriving, but it got postponed. The next day, I had a fight with my parents, I wanted to be done with the temple visit ASAP, but my mom and her pooja, we started around 9-9:30, and came back around 2:30. I wasn't happy since my dad asked them that we are going out and will meet them in the evening.
Till them, I was angry with my parents, but it was alright when they visited. When they came, papa soye huye the, mmy jaha thi, I don't even know unko ghanti sunayi di hogi... Mai niche tha, to I started arranging the living room. I think Papa uthe honge, wo mmy ko bole honge, mmy didi-jijaji ko boli door kholne, fir yaad aaya ki meko nhi kholna hai darwaja...
I was asked to wait for them to call me, and I was so nervous, I got on call with her. fir I was called, they saw me, then they started talking. Suddenly, her father said, they want engagement within a month, and marriage by 4 months. I was surprised, and wanted to call out, but jijaji ne rok liya... Fir they listed their 3 conditions.
Jb wo gye, we were so surprised, someone said, there must be some unsaid issues, which is getting fixed by those rituals they mentioned. My di and jiju went to meet her, after getting done with their work, and di had talk with her.
Next day, we were supposed to go and officially meet her, we were late again, mandir and all. But, while having the talk, we mentioned, we don't want so early wedding, and her dad literally walked out. We were then sent out to talk, but called back almost so immediately. By the time, I was back at home, it was all over. And then she messaged too, it's all over. Everyone felt they were so rude, and then didi dropped the bomb, when they arrived a day earlier, her mom taunted on di and jijaji for opening the door late, and now noone even wanted to get attached to their family.
Everything has an end, and this ended too soon, even by those standards.
