Choice between two gifts

Yesterday Knight invited me to her birthday. She will see The Batman with some of her friends on friday. I'm looking forward to it, but soon I stressed about what gift to give her. I'm not sure if I should give one at all since I will be paying for the tickets myself. However it's a Birthday so there should be gifts. And I want to give her one.

So yesterday night I went through gift ideas. I settled on giving her a manga. My first thought was to give her a strange manga called An Invitation from a crab. I used my 50% off for Prime Student, but even with that it would only arrive on Saturday. In other bookstores it even takes weeks to arrive. So I found a pretty cool manga that is kind of horror called The Strange Tale of Panorama Island. Since I had Prime already I just did the same day delivery. Now I feel guilty about it. Amazon is evil already and now I'm overworking their stressed employees even more.

This morning I had another idea though. I could gift her my copy of Invitation from a crab and buy a new one for me. I should have thought of it sooner. Now I'm torn on what to do. Here are pros and cons for each manga.

Invitation from a crab

-costs 11.50: might be a bit too cheap but she wont feel pressured into buying me something expensive for my birthday

-feels more personal: I thought about her while reading it. She went to a lost and found recently, she gets lost a lot and she likes to eat hotpot. The girl in the story does all this too.

-really strange:its a collection of bizarre short stories. It would make for a very unique present. She might think its too weird

- my copy looks slightly used: it came like that, but she might suspect I'm giving her an old book from the garbage or sth

-I'm personally attached to it, so I will have to buy another one for me

Strange Tale of Panorama Island:

-kind of horror: its a story about a man who poses as a deceased friend who looked identical to him in order to get his money, to buy a fantastical amusement park. I'm still reading it, but it seems good. She likes horror. much more coherent than the other one

- costs 23.50: might be too expensive?

-its a bigger book: kind of unwieldy to bring to the cinema, but it looks much more premium

-more appealing artstyle? its less abstract and Knight seems to prefer more realistic "pretty" drawings compared to my weird ass

- no attachment: I'm fine with not owning this one. Does that mean it actually has less value?

So those are my thoghts. I'm leaning towards Invitation from a crab since it feels more personal. What do you think? I made some pictures too. They are probably turned again even though they are normal on my phone, sorry.

Also I have a barber appointment on Thursday. I'm super nervous I hope it will look good. I never went there, but they seemed nice on the phone.

Yesterday Belle came to my home town. We went on a walk and talked about Ukraine. Her opinion is that we should avoid all confrontation with Putin to not provoke him in any way. I disagree. This guy wont stop if we dont show opposition and work against together against him. So I think its good that we are giving Ukraine weapons and do hard sanctions. I can understand her though, nuclear weapons are unfathomably scary. And I also dont like it that Ukraine doesnt let men between 18 and 60 leave the country. Nobody should be forced to fight and its sexist too. I hate war so much and it has only just started. Maybe I'm a hypocrite for saying fighting against Putin is good while I probably wouldnt fight for my own country. At least I wouldnt voluntarily go into an active warzone. This whole situation sucks so much.

Hope you all are well
