Dear Diary,

Why does society have to affiliate age with everything?

"They're too young", or because "I'm this many years old I can't do that". I was talking to someone yesterday and they said they were scared during a movie they were watching "because I'm 16" and their was blood on the blade". Like what the fuck does you being 16 have to do with that? Do you think you'd be less scared when you're 26 simply because your age is 10 years more?

"You're too young for that", "they shouldn't be doing that because they're under 18 (even if its legal)", "you should wait till you're an adult" Whats the difference between 16-17-18? The maturity obviously but does that mean it makes a difference for a simple specific action that isn't even a big deal?

I question people that say stuff like this and all they give back for reasoning is "because". They have literally no logic behind these opinions and it bugs me so much. Why? "Idk just because" or that's what their parents taught them... well news flash 90% of parents in 2022 are dumbasses that shouldn't have kids.

Yes, I understand that some things really do have a desired age but that doesn't mean it needs to apply to everything. Getting sexually active is obviously one of those things that really should have a general age, in my opinion 15-16 minimum. Everything else though like watching a movie rated above your age is fine unless you're 4 watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Euphoria.
