They all say that being the eldest of the children is the greatest blessing of all... but, can someone tell me why it only feels like a curse?
As the eldest, you are the one who has to "set the example"
... you can't screw up, or the others will follow.
As the eldest, you are the one who has to stay quiet when you are told no..
cause the younger ones need the attention more.
As the eldest, you are to sacrifice your wants and needs... because the younger ones are the ones you need to provide for.
As the eldest, you are the one to pick up all the slack and get blamed for being lazy... when in all reality, you are just burntout from all the forced upon parenthood you have been placed in.
As the eldest, you will willinging put yourself in dangers way to protect your little ones... but they would never do the same for you half the time.
As the eldest, your private life is not private... and if it is private, then it is only becuase you hide it and you dont share any emotions or private information with your family.
As the eldest, you are expected to keep any and all secrets from parents... but when you are unaware of certain secrets, you are still blamed to never having known.
I really do wish that being the eldest was a blessing...
but to me it feels more like a curse.
