My name is Gian. I'm 21 and I live in Maryland. Go crabs! (No one says that but I did anyways.)

I'm not saying you should keep tabs with what I'm about to share with you day-in-and-out, but judging by the few people that have gotten to know me over the years, it seems I form this different kind of special connection. I can't explain it. Maybe we'll figure it out along the way.

I'm a loner. I don't talk to anyone throughout the day. It's all me. It's been that way for so long, I assume everyone else goes through the same thing. But deep down, I know that's untrue.

When people ask you who your favorite hero is, who do you think about? Batman? Superman? If you were to ask me now, or anytime, I'd tell you it's Elliott Smith. The general consensus, for those who have heard some of his major tunes, is that he's a sad guy and nothing more. They couldn't be more mistaken. Elliott writes what he's lived. And that's what I'll always love about someone like him. An individualist who never succumbed to society's preferences. I'll talk about him a lot. He is my hero.

What do I do? I study business at Towson University. My parents studied it in Perú, so naturally I thought, "Why not go with what works?" And continue on that trend. Over the past few years, however, I've and the few around me have realized I have the potential to do more. To see more. To be more. A few years ago, thanks to the help of a special person, I discovered I have the ability to sing. I have a voice many say resembles Iron & Wine. They're not my favorite band, I've listened to many of their albums, but it's not my style or form of expression that I can truly connect to. Every thing Elliott Smith writes, however, I relate to 100 percent undeniably. I love him so much, I bought his "I 💙 Metal" t-shirt. I wear it mostly on gloomy days.

I just finished writing my first album. I wrote all 12 songs in 8 days after my first semester concluded. I'm struggling to record, however, because I'm too embarrassed with singing too loud and being heard. Today, however, I told myself I would go ahead and do it anyways. I shouldn't have to deny or shy away from my talent. I already have 3 songs recorded anyhow, and if I did the rest tonight, the album might just be ready to release tonight too.

I can't wait to share the album with you.
