Dear Diary, not much happened again, but I still want to post an update.
Yesterday I went on a walk with Belle again. My current attitude towards the situation is that I will just let it happen. That means I will probably just do trips with her, until she finds a new boyfriend on Tinder or her new diving classes or whatever. It still makes me sad, but right now more in quiet melancholic way. Knowing that I will probably have to wait several more years until I find my first girlfriend feels horrible.
But being able to go out and at least spend time with a pretty girl, who I enjoy being with despite all the things we disagree with, is at least something. Last time we talked about halloween costumes for example. I suggested a Siren for her and she said I have something of a pirate. And she talked about her fascination with Sailor Moon as a kid. Thats about the only anime she ever liked. We ended up watching the opening and some clips from it. And then we watched a video where you have to guess from the op what 90/2000 childrens show, which was a lot of fun.
I'm also writing on my paper, whuch is due in about 20 days. It's aboout how fantasy literature can have philosophical meaning. I talk mostly about Plato right now and interestingly the Lord of the Rings is actually partly inspired by a story that Plato told in his Republic. It's actually about a magical ring that turns people invisible and corrupts them with power. So in a way the Lord of the Ring explores the ethics of such a tempting object further. Plato didn't like the written word much of course, I will have to talk about that too.
Also I decided to reward myself a little bit. I earned a bit of money from my job so I want to buy myself some mangas and graphic novels. Plus I found a 20% discount at an online retailer for non-German books, which is perfect since I like reading in english anyway.
Some of them I wanted to read for a long time because they are so critically acclaimed, like Black Hole from Charles Burns. I'm a bit iffy on the artstyle, but it is about a class of teeangers that are affwcted by a sexually transmitted desease which mutates them. That interests me and it fits my own desire for these things.
Y the last Man falls in the same category even though I quite like the art. It's about a virus that wipes out all life on earth with a Y chromosome. So because there are no males humans are doomed. The protagonist is the only one left.
Other books like Habibi from Craig Thompson, about a love in arabia and MW from the great Osamu Tezuka just seem like great deals.
I wanted to get 20th century boys but they don't have the english omnibusses :(

For example "An invitation from a crab" which sound very good in a bizarre way.
Also Abara from Tsutomo Nihei and Emanon from Shinji Kaijo, two of my favorite manga authors. I saw a comic called "The Book of Forks" there too, but I also can't get that...
Finally one of my favorite series that I have read for quite a while is The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. It's about a group of students from a buddhist university who are trying to make money by bringing corpses to the place they want to spend their last rest. Yeah they have supernatural abilities and one of them can literally talk to corpses and ask them. 😂 It is a horror manga but not very scary (although often very graphic so 18+) It's more about how we deal with the dead and therefore our own mortality. It's also episodic and some stories are better than others, but overall a fascinating read.
I lended this one to Knight a year ago too. When she gave ot back, it smelled like her for weeks. Yeah, I know I'm a weirdo, don't judge 😅 In all fairness she always uses some kind of product that has a very strong smell, kind of like roses, but also a bit musky. So of course if she has something in her flat for a while it will smell like it too.
Speaking of her, she texted me pretty often the last few days, mostly talking about Fall Guys and among us which are the hot games right now. Even Belle saw one of her messages pop up while I showed her something on my phone...
I never know how to interpret it when she suddenly reaches out for me again more. Most of the time she then has a phase where she barely wants to text at alone, let alone meet. I don't understand her.
