I've been buying a lot of stuff lately. I am very much so the type of person who buy things in an attempt to fill a hole within me. It doesn't really work.

Usually it's just small things, but since I've come into some money, I've splurged a bit. I grew up poor so my definition of a splurge might be different than some people's.

It started with a PlayStation 2. My dad had been saying how he would love to see my nephew J play the same games my sisters and I grew up on. So I bought a PS2, texted my ex asking for a game back, and bought two more games. The PS2 arrived a few days ago and my ex forgot to mail the game ๐Ÿ™„ but the other two games should arrive in about a week. (The games I'm referring to are Ape Escape, which my ex has; and Ape Escape 2 and Ape Escape: Pumped and Primed.)

Then I bought a full Nintendo Switch, used, for $100 over the retail price. I'm honestly pissed at how COVID19 and some stupid lawsuits have affected the production and sales of switches. Also the rude-ass person/people who created the app/website that crawled on websites and purchased all of the switches as they were put online.

I've also bought some diecast model vehicles for J at a 1:24 size ratio. Two cars and a truck. Then I bought another car that looks almost exactly like one my dad used to have probably before I was born.

I've bought some pokemon plushies, too. I found a Squirtle at Walmart and had to have it since I have a goal of collecting all my starters as plushies. I already had Piplup and Popplio. I bought Sobble and Galarian Ponyta from pokemon center. I bought a Skitty from Mystery Dungeon off of ebay. I bought a really expensive Pikachu plushie based off a costume from Ruby/Sapphire (the cute idol/pop star costume).

I bought some shorts from amazon that have some nice pockets.

I bought two facemasks from redbubble.

I bought a USB-C to HDMI converter since my laptop doesn't have an HDMI port.

And most recently, about 2 hours ago, I bought a stuffed giraffe, but it's not for me.

I haven't mentioned boys in a little while, but I've still been talking to DMcD. He told me on the 12th, I think, that his favorite animal is a giraffe. He said he used to have a couple of giraffe plushies, but left them behind when he moved at age 13.

This made me sad to be honest. My heart would be broken if I had to move without my favorite plushies. I could do without all the pokemon plushies, but if I had to leave my Puppy behind? If I had to leave Yolo (technically not a plushie) behind? Or my blankie? I would be heartbroken.

It doesn't matter how old I am, I need my small comforts.

Anyway, I asked DMcD for his address under the guise of seeing how far away we live from each other (not too far honestly).

I bought the giraffe, put in his address and my payment method, checked the box for special gift wrap and added a note. I said something along the lines of, "Don't leave this one behind and give it plenty of cuddles for me. โค"

Amazon says he should receive it on July 15th. I can't wait for his reaction.

Reflecting on this post now, I realize that I haven't actually bought a lot of things.

And honestly, I shouldn't feel bad about buying these things. I mean, I did just pay off a good chunk of debt.

It's just kind of ingrained into me that if it's not essential, I'm wasting money. I grew up only allowed to buy the basics and occasionally something nice, but still cheap.

Money can't buy happiness, but it can help make you pretend to be happy.

When im sad, i think about the ocean. Which is almost always. It just makes me feel as if I can be free. Like nothing is dragging me down, I've never even been to the ocean. The thought of the waves of my feet, and the wind blowing on my face seems to cool me down.
