Nothing like freaking myself out this morning. I got up and got ready for work, went to get my daughter (3) up and lost my balance and managed to drag my foot across the floor. With the luck I have I found a nail. It hurt so much and I'm very surprised I didn't drop my daughter.
As soon as I saw blood I started freaking out even more, there was alot. I called my father in law and told him he would probably have to take me to the er. I was scared. I was supposed to be at work in just over a hour. I tried calling my boss. No answer. Tried again no answer. Tried calling the am cook. ( I work in the kitchen for a nursing home, sometimes I cook, serve or am a dishwasher) no answer from her either. My last resort was to call the ³rd morning person ( I thought they were off) she answered, she's a bitch and I cannot stand her.
She starts yelling at me to calm down. Tells me that I still need to come to work and have a nurse look at it to decide if I need to be off work or not. Whatever. While finishing getting my daughter ready for work and grabbing something for breakfast, my boss finally calls back. I explain to him the whole situation, tell him I can't put pressure on half my foot ( it's the foot pad behind the big toe, that I've been walking on the side of my foot) he tells me he's calling work to see if they can deal without me for an hour until he can get his son to school then he will come in early. Halfway to work, the bitch from work calls me and says that if I'm not going to come to work today, there is no point in me coming in to have a nurse look at it.
I had to wait until urgent care to open. This all happened at 530 this mornjng. Urgent care opened at 8.
I had to have a tetanus shot, an antibiotic shot and was prescribed a double antibiotic. I asked for a Dr excuse for today. The Dr took me off for another day. He tried a week at first, I told him I couldn't.
When I took my Dr excuse to work, of course my boss was disappointed. Tomorrow is our Thanksgiving at work we have over 200 guests on top of 125 residents. It's all hands on deck. He tells the girl I've been having problems with. All I hear from her is "are you sure you can't work tomorrow".
I don't remember the last time I've called off work. I hardly ever call off. It's really only like once a year. I'm tired of being treated like shit for calling off. The highschoolers at night can call of for shits and giggles 2 or 3 times a week and no one gives a shit. An adult with an actual injury being taken off work for 3 days is the end of the fucking world.
I sent my boss a message telling him I don't like the way she treated me this morning. She was telling me I still had to get to work, when I was still worried if my foot was going to stop bleeding. That it had to take him calling her for me to get off work.
