Dear Diary,
I'm really mad.
I came across this " music reaction channel" called enoma on YouTube.
I've never been a fan of reaction videos of any type in the 1st place. Because I don't understand the psychology of why people would want to see how some stranger is reacting to some cat video on the net. I read its something to do with brain mirroring process. Whatever. I never really understood social media anyway.
So this bs channel is also into reacting to music videos. They ask people what video we should react to next and people give recommendations. They put on headphones and listen to the music. During this process they'll do some facial drama to show their viewers they're enjoying the music. Then they give their analysis. Its always positive analysis. this part is what I don't get.
Even I ask lots of friends to try out some of my music. But everyone has tastes, something's they like some they don't. How come these people enjoy everything they get recommended? That's why I feel this whole reaction business is fake. But it's not just these people. Lots of channels do music reactions. Fake whatever, if people want to watch, let them.I can ignore .
But what made me angry about this channel is they were asking people money to do music reactions on their patreon channel. It was like ,offer of 20dollars for 2 20 min reactions, offer of 35 dollars for 2 30min reactions and so on .
Imagine their audacity. They're asking people money to tell them what THEY think about these people's favorite music. Dont they have any shame.
I was thinking, this is like, everytime I ask a friend to listen to some music, they tell me, "ok I'll check out your music, but first pay me 5 dollars". Wtf. Its the same thing they're doing. Except on internet. With strangers.
What's surprised me even more was people were making paid requests. They has already raised 200dollars in a few days.
Why would anyone pay a stranger on the internet to tell them what this person thinks about their favourite music?is it because they're so insecure they don't even believe their own thoughts about a piece of music? They need some stranger's validation? Is it because they're alone they don't have real people to ask about music opinions?I just don't get it.
So I summarised all these points in a nice polite comment and asked the psychology behind this paid reaction thing. And you know what? Within a few hours, they deleted my comment. They couldn't even stand up for the thing they were doing. Even they themselves know they're phony people.
They call themselves counsellors and trainers giving genuine assessments to music videos. Yeah right.
I don't know why I feel very angry at these things. They're strangers on the internet. I dont have anything to do with them. They're making money off the internet exploiting whatever loophole in human psychology I don't understand.
Maybe I'm sick of them, because these people are evidence that our society is degrading. People are getting dumber, more intolerant, more lonely, looking to pay anything to give them their fix of happiness.
Even a stranger lying on the internet about their music is enough. People paying money to strangers to hear what they WANT to hear. What world are we living in? I'm honestly sick of this reality.
YOU CAN BUY ANYTHING THESE DAYS, EVEN OPINIONS.
